    Apollo EZ Iris - Failure

I had it daisy chained to an i-Cue and I've had no problems with that. I pulled the iris and the power supply and plugged the whole rig directly into the console. It'll go through it's startup, but I can't take control with the console.Guess I'll give Apollo a ring, thanks folks!

    Apollo EZ Iris - Failure

Hey GreyWyvern,So I originally had the Iris addressed at 510. When I powered it on, it would close after the start-up sequence. However, this isn't the case for all addresses. I tried 401, 501 and a handful of other addresses and they would stay fully open after start-up. In all cases, after...

    Apollo EZ Iris - Failure

Hey all, I've got an Apollo EZ Iris that's been in service for about ten years. I believe we purchased it new, but at this point... who knows. It was in service this spring, before the apocalypse. We went back into the space to set up a rep plot; when I put it in our i-Cue fixture, it wouldn't...

    Quality LED Tape Controllers

Hey guys, I've been using the Samyo RGBW DMX512 Decoder (link), which I've seen mentioned elsewhere on the site. It's a reasonably good controller at a very low price point, but I've noticed two major problems; channels tend to "stick on" when dimmed on a zero-count, and they don't tend to fade...

    Large Broadway Flats

Hey all, I just got the plans for our next production, and the designer wants 8' 4" x 20' flats that hinge. I'm thinking Broadway flats with aircraft cable to prevent sagging. The largest I have ever built was 8' x 7', but those held up pretty well using 5/4" for framing, but I think it will...

    Slippery Floor

Quick followup: The sand trick worked phenomenally and nobody else slipped in the vomit. Thanks all!

    Slippery Floor

Hey guys, we're doing a production of God Of Carnage and, I never thought I would say this... the vomit is making the floor slippery. Currently, the stage has a coat of Behr Enamel paint on it. Is there any way to give the floor a bit more tack that doesn't involve completely repainting the stage?

    Rose Brand Aglo Alternative

One more bit of information; the openings are triangles that are 8' on the base and about 12' high. Does drafting paper come on 8' rolls? Or is there an easy way to seam it?We have used Coroplast in the past for backlighting, but the largest piece available is 4' x 8'. Again, the worry is...

    Rose Brand Aglo Alternative

Hey guys, we are backlighting some frosted skylights and the lighting designer doesn't want to see lamp sources. He wants to use Rose Brand Aglo, but it's not going to fit in the budget. Does anybody know of a cost effective alternative?

    Altman GC Heat Dissipation

So my gels are melting/smoking, and it's hour two of tech rehearsal. Right now we've got the safety screens, silk and a few fairly saturated GAM colors in there. Any suggestions on how to deal with that?

How do you call fly system cues?

Typically, our Stage Manager tends to call fly standbys by the name of the scenic peice. She'll occasionally tag on the actual move.SM: Transition Warning SM: Standby: Chandelier out. SM: Flies go.In a more complex show, with two or more flymen, the head flyman wears coms and relays cues to...
