    Moving Truss Over Audience

By standards I was generally referring to insurance and company policies. Though some local codes could come into play. I stand near/under a moving truss on CM motors multiple times a week and run one over people's heads typically at least once a week. All of these are designed so no single...

    Moving Truss Over Audience

Personally I would have no problem standing under a properly rigged truss while it moved. I do so quite often. As for doing it over the audience... If it's designed/engineered for that sure (standards are higher in general for public vs staff).

    Xenon Lamps

Sorry for the typos, I can't figure out how to edit my prior posts and I was using my phone to post it. Projector is fine with the replacement lamp. Its going to be a while before I can pull that one for maintenance, so image is fine and all diagnostic values are normal, so going with the...

Hanging Truss across 27' span question

Um, 27' is nothing for truss to span. If you've never done a 27' span of truss you are not qualified to rig this project. My current show does well over 40' spans (much larger than 12" truss obviously). Get a pro in there. The pipe bit does sound a bit questionable. Could you not put a...

    Xenon Lamps

Nope, no one handling it. It was running (normally as far as we could tell) in the projector for like 10 minutes then bang. Ran fine yesterday. Well under rated life. No idea what happened, with the huge mess and damage it's impossible to make any sort of educated guess at failure point...

    Xenon Lamps

So, I can say wear the PPE if you handle the bare lamps, spot or projector. Had one blow in a projector Today and from about 80' it sounded like a grenade. Shattered the reflector and glass All in the projector.

    Leaded vs Lead-free solder

I'm pretty sure that's mostly ignored as I've never seen the shops with in house repair techs make people go through showers ect...

    Health and Safety gone stupid!

And to make things even more confusing some places require electricians for Camlok connections. The place I worked that did was more along the "require" lines in that is was not enforced at all-- but I believe some places it is. Most places seem to go with requiring "qualified personnel" for...

    Good Small Knife

I'm looking for a small knife (2-3" blade) with half serrated blade. Something that doesn't scare event volunteers/ non-production staff, but will also cut webbing/rope/small branches/stuff that isn't really meant for a multitool knife. And cheap is good so I won't cry if/when it walks...

    Wierd Things...

Oh, the truss was not on the ladder, I was while dead hanging the truss. Truss was dead hung off beams (using appropriate hardware and beams!). There wasn't power for chain motors. Venue policy there is nothing taken in the air that could fall (inc radios).

    Wierd Things...

In the spirit of the old What Went Wrong forums: Apparently it it entirely possible to dead hang truss off of the venue's descent looking ladders, then while fixing cables have the ladder sorta twist and start collapsing. While said ladder is attempting to collapse it is also possible to...

    Control/Dimming Cell Phone Blackout

The Cell Phone/ Express Interference is real, or at least I was told so by ETC. We had a host of strange issues on one show (cues getting dropped, cues going w/o anyone pushing go, subs flickering (that didn't before or after) and while on the phone with ETC (with the phone on the desk...
