    Shure PGX Wireless Static

I have a Shure PGX wireless headset system that just started acting up. I am using a Shure PGX transmitter and receiver, along with a Shure beta headset. I have 12 mics alltogether (6 on H band, 6 on J band). The problem didn't start until halfway through our show. All of a sudden, there was...

    Little Mermaid Transformation

Thank you for the ideas. I may also try a projection onto the backdrop. If I play up the change with strobes/dark lighting and fog, I should be able to remove the actress and display a pre-recorded projection of her "swimming" to the surface. Once at the top, the real actress reappears onstage...

    Little Mermaid Transformation

The local school is going to do The Little Mermaid (Pioneer Drama version, not Disney) this fall, and I am having trouble designing the first transformation from Mermaid-to-human. FYI...Pioneer's knock-off is the same basic story, just so we're on the same page. But in the script, the scene...

    Feedback Ferret

Has anybody here used the Peavey Feedback Ferret, or something similar? What was your experience? Did it work well, and do you have any tips for use?

    DJ School dance.

It sounds like you have a basic setup (computer, amp, speakers). Is this accurate? Do you have access to a small mixer? If you have a mixer you can set up two music sources (mp3 player, computer, CD, etc) and fade them manually as you choose the musci. If you only have your computer and iTunes...

    Stage Paint; Rosco Tough Prime

Well the stage is done. I'll outline the process we used... Debris was swept from the stage to make for a good sanding surface. We rented a square sander for 4 hours (actually 24, but we only needed it for 4) and used 36 grit paper to take down the finish. After the floor was sanded (~2 hours)...

    Shure to Audio Technica adapter?

I have 2 Audio Technica wireless bodypacks, but the packaged mics are awful to the point of being unusable in productions. I also have 5 extra Shure lavalier mics from Shure bodypacks that are not being used (we purchased headsets to replace the lavs). Is there a way to plug the Shure mics into...

    Stage Paint; Rosco Tough Prime

Thanks everyone for the responses. I confirmed my selection of paint with 3 theatrical companies in addition to calling Rosco again. All recommended using Rosco Tough Prime. I'll update this thread when I've completed the project to benefit any others in my situation.

    Stage Paint; Rosco Tough Prime

Has anyone used Rosco Tough Prime to paint their stage floor? It was recommended to me by a local theatre rental house, and it is marketed as being capable use in that way. However, the guys we contracted to do the work (sanding, prep, paint) said that it is not designed/intended for heavy use...

Making People Fly...Without using a fly system.

We just wrapped Willy Wonka. To simulate flying without leaving the ground, we had the actors on heelys. As they "tasted" the bubbles, they began to skate while singing. It was an adequate effect, especially for such a short scene. We also rigged two large bubble machines (hidden, of course)...

    Blacklighting a Stage

My theatre just staged Willy Wonka and used long-throw blacklights for the scary boat scene to great effect. Wildfires are the best, but the 2 we purchased were excellent. We bought 2 Chauvet Black Shadows for $240/ea. They were mounted about 20 feet from the stage and they lit extremely well...

    New Member Michigan

Hello I'm a new member from Metro Detroit, Michigan. I currently assist with 2-3 productions a year at the local auditorium and I help recommend/design lighting and sound for the theatre. Hopefully I can find some good ideas to help us along! Travis
