One plug to rule them all (and in the darkness bind them)

$129 EACH!?!?!? I thought that was per hundred. Seriously, I'd stick with my 20A, 60A and 100A split pins or plain ol' 25"A, 50A ad 100A stage plugs..
Or even those 'Suicide Clips' akin to steering wheel spinners that film set electricians used to use tap the mains of local panels when filming on location.
They may originally have been designed as fuse pullers.

AKA: necker knocker, necker's knob, Brodie knob.

Don't tell the young-uns. We're getting perilously close to NSFW territory. Ya gotta know the territory. We got trouble my fiends...

Back to topic,
$129 isn't that far off from the price of a NEMA 21-60 connector/receptacle, is it?

Well, a 15-60 is only $60ish.

This other 15-60 is over $100.

Amazon doesn't want to admit to a 21-60. :)

We had feeder cables with 200A battery clamps to tie into panelboards--just grab onto the mains wherever the clamps would fit. I worked on a shoot in a steel mill where we used C clamps to fasten our feeders for the arcs to 250 VDC crane rails.

Was at Now stadium today to pre-inspect follow spots for some work.
For two of the spots located in a hallway, the house staff ran out a cable for us. It was L6-30, unfortunately, we needed something like L14-30 to plug in to the ballasts. That's fine, already knew all six had to come back to the shop anyway for major work anway. Not needing an adaptor in testing the last two would be useful, but adaptors work fine in like a $16.00 part in adapting.

As long as you don't use them to attach a higher rated load to a lower rated cable or receptacle, sure. :)

I was actually considering, at one point, making up the coil of ... I think it's 6/3WG ... that I adopted some years ago into a feeder (for the low-level stuff I do occasionally), by making tie-in boxes with breakers suitable for their attached plug, and then a receptable suitable for 6/3 on the other side. What is that, 50A?

That way, I get to use the same feeder no matter what I'm tying into, and if I try to overrun the tie-in, the breaker *there* will trip.
