Welcome to LDI 2023! There are a lot of new products that are going to be shown off very soon!

In no particular order:
  • City Theatrical
    • DMXcat-E is the next generation of the DMXcat. It adds an Ethernet port as well as cable testing of 5-pin and Ethernet cables with an included external remote. Can read SMPTE timecode as well as MIDI timecode and regular MIDI for audio and other entertainment purposes. You can also view DMX timings and PoE voltages. DMXcat-E has a flashlight, buseer, and USB-C charging! (very excited to play with this one)
    • Wing Nut Socket is already in the running for CB Gadget of the Year. You simply attach the Wing Nut Socket to a 3/8” ratchet, slide the opening over any wing nut, and tighten or loosen the wing nut with ease, with more reliability than possible by hand.
  • Canto
    • RETRO-Fusion 2.0 - Smallest profile version of the RETRO series. This is a 0-100% phase dimmable (forward and reverse) variable wattage LED 2700K-6500K 80-97 CRI engine. They are designed for older SCR, TRIAC, and IGBT dimmer systems but are compatible with newer dimmer systems. Standard and custom mounting options are available.
  • Chauvet
  • Claypaky
    • HY B-Eye K15 Aqua an IP-66 version of the K15
    • SKYLOS the show-stopping Laser source light utilizing a 300W laser to shoot incredibly uniform beams from 0.5° - 5°. It has to be seen to be believed.
    • Buddylight is a new automated followspot solution that the CB team is very interested in seeing for ourselves!
  • SGM
  • ETC / High End Systems
    • Hyperstar A budget-friendly version of the Lonestar, removing framing shutters.
    • and whatever else they have up their sleeve. As ETC likes to say, "We are always working on New and Exciting Things"
  • Apollo MFG
    • New brass gobos
    • A new lens-less light called the CLP-01. It uses an unusual collimated light source so gobo projection uses no lensing, yet projects the gobo in sharp focus over various distances, simultaneously. (color us intrigued)
  • Pathway Connectivity
    • DMeXit Emergency Bypass Controller An emergency bypass controller that fulfills the need for a code compliant, UL924 listed solution for venues that use theatrical and dynamic lighting that is required to go to a specific level in emergency situations.
    • VIA24 High Density Ethernet Switch An installation ethernet switch designed specifically for lighting, sound and video signal distribution, including live shows. Unlike most switches, VIA switches ship unmanaged, pre-configured, and optimized for entertainment network use.
  • A.C. Lighting (Thanks to @Kyla Werrett we have a full rundown right on CB)
  • SpoTrack
    • New software that we are working on getting more details on.

Disappointing from ETC. Maybe I'm on my own here, but I really wish they'd kill of the CS PAR and release a CS PAR V with True1 connectors. I want to stop having to screw around with PowerCon vs. True1 when spec'ing a cable package for a project and I'm sure users getting their CS Spot V packages want to stop screwing around with that as well. The CS PAR was announced, when? Like 2014? Almost a decade ago?

C'mon.

@dvsDave Thank you for the shout-out!

There were some new things shown at ETC, I will update as soon as I can pull together my notes

And Neutrik is waiting on etc committing fully to true-1 to announce their new, improved, and unfortunately incompatible true2 connector :)

You missed the coolest things Claypaky had:
  • Rhapsodya, an additive RGBL fixture with the straightest shutters I've ever seen at full zoom

"""
Performers wear tags for quick and easy access to the spotlight’s main functions and automated controls, keeping the focus on the performance, not the technicalities.
"""

Either that's incredibly poorly written, or they think the *performers* will be... doing pickups? :)

You are talking about the Claypaky Buddylight. Perhaps they have a client who has a use case for a performer triggering a change to the parameters of the fixtures, or switching the spots focus. It makes a lot of sense, especially for an interactive performance, perhaps a theme park show.

No new items of note from anyone else @dvsDave?!.... I guess I didnt do my job well enough

No, you did your job fine. I burned out hard after LDI and didn't upload all my notes and photos.

Or on a cruise ship, I guess. My focus (see what I did there?) tends to be incredibly tight sometimes, often too much so.

Oh, the former circus folks who produce ice shows and other family entertainment? They'd be delighted to produce shows with holograms, exclusively. It's not just about art, it's about shaving payroll.
