Do you have an actual
EDI Dimmex 24-1
View attachment DimmexPacks.pdf or was that a typo?
First, you need an
adapter, 5-3, which would
plug into the "
DMX out" port on your
dimmer. Then you'd run 3pin
XLR DMX512 cable (not mic cable) to the first
LED strip, and
daisy chain until the last one. Into the
DMX out of the last
fixture, you'd
plug in a
Terminator, DMX. Make sure the "Terminate?
switch" on the
dimmer pack is off (if it has one--I don't think yours does).
As for how to
address the fixtures, if you currently have no
DMX devices other than the
dimmer pack, you'd set your first
fixture to 025. Read the owner's
manual (or post the exact make and model of the fixtures here) to determine how many channels each
fixture uses. For example, if the fixtures use six channels each, they'd be addressed as 025, 31, 37, 43 and so on. To set a
fixture's
DMX address, there is probably an
LED screen on the
fixture, and four buttons: Menu, Enter, Up, Down. Again, tell us make and model and we can help better.
Note that all of the above is only for control. We haven't looked at
power yet. The
power for the
LED fixtures
should not be plugged into your dimmers, but need regular, undimmed 120V AC, probably from a wall
outlet.
Next is how to patch them into the control
console. We can't answer that until we know the make and model of your
console.
