amateur

Derived from the Latin word amator, meaning "lover."
Used to refer to non-professional theater companies, usually.

I did read the thread that this came from, and while I'm all for an ever-expanding glossary of technical terms, I think this might be a little over the line. We all know what amateur means, and if you don't you can easily look it up in a printed copy of a dictionary (do they still have those? oh well, just google it). As a general rule, I'd like to see the more common-use words (words that have accurate definitions as 1. or 2. in a dictionary) removed from our glossary, so we can really focus on keeping the content useful.

Sometimes defined as one who thinks if something is worth doing, it may be worth doing badly.

...I'd like to see ...
And I'd like to see the comments section of the wiki not used for discussion.

But you have a valid point, and staff will take it under advisement. Why don't you start, in CB Suggestions, a thread with a list of entries you feel should be deleted? Now would be a good time to do this, as we prepare for our (eventual) migration to a new wiki system.
