In looking for low cost replacement of 12-16 systems, I'm considering:
* AKG WMS450
* G3/100
I know, the Sennheisers are hands-down the choice, I've been though all of that. However I've also seen very happy AKG theater users, and for our purposes the AKGs have some very specific advantages:
- replacing our existing AKG WMS80 systems, the lav connectors are the same so I don't have to retrofit all of our countryman mics
- in our area, AKG Band 7 is wide open and will give us very clean receiption. G3 will is semi-open between Bands A and B
- The WMS450 runs on a single AA ... (claimed) for the same length of time as others run on two AAs. That's half the battery consumption.
- Small features, such as red/green backlight on the AKG will indicate low battery or RF issues.
If anyone is using WMS450s, can you tell me how you like them, and specifically can you comment on any RF and/or perspiration/moisture issues?
