Caster angst

So I've read through all of the forums on casters here that I can find and still have some questions.

1. What is the material of the Darnell casters like they sell at Rosebrand? If feels like soft rubber, The wheel is gray in color and softish.

2. Has anyone had any luck with casters from castercity.com?

3. high capacity gray rubber, gray rubber, or polyurethane?

Thoughts?

thanks

1. Hi Capacity Neoprene Rubber, Hard Rubber 60, Polyurethane/Polylefin 60, Steel, et al, You name it. Read the discription on the Rose Brand site, it's listed with every caster. Darnell-Rose is a brand name for a high quality manufacturer: Formed in '98 from two companies dating as far back as 1921 for Darnell and 1937 for Rose.
Darnell Rose Casters - industrial casters, commercial casters, piano casters, furniture casters
2. Castercity? Never dealt with them. If you buy brand name casters, it's just a matter of price and delivery time. If you go for off brands or unknowns, it's the luck of the draw. Castercity, They don't make the casters, only distribute them, You can get high quality stuff from them and you can buy the lesser quality, so, check warentys and buyer beware.

3. What's the intended use? Gen purpose or speciffic? What's the load capacity you think you'll need?

General Ideas, Softer the wheel, the quieter rolling but greater rolling friction, harder to push. Easier on floors and carpet.
harder the wheel the more noise but rolls easier. More wear and tear on floors and carpet.

Smaller the wheel the easier it swivels if within the proper weight range. Very large wheels roll very easy but can take a lot of effort and space to get turned.

Always check local caster supply places, you can usually get better prices on brand name products without the shipping. YMMV.

If being used on a revolve or guided back/and/forth wagon, DO NOT USE SWIVEL CASTERS!!!!
