Controlling IR with console

So we got in some new costumes for our horses that light up. However they are controlled by a remote and the booth is way out of range. I did some digging and only found one piece of equipment that would convert the ir to dmx. It is the decabox. Does anyone else have any other solutions or ideas or does this look like the best option.

Maybe I put this in the wrong section can a Mod move it to the show control section.

This can be accomplished with an Arduino, DMX shield, and IR led.
