Just to be clear, you want a candidate with a bachelor's degree or four year's experience in the field, and you intend to pay them $14 an hour ($1 per hour less than the current proposed minimum wage)?

Yup! If you work every day of the year and get your paid holidays you have the opportunity to may 29,120 bucks! No benefits, no health insurance, and no ability to pay for both food and rent! You would be better flipping burgers.

Hell, I won't charge my screw gun for less than $25/hr. Maybe Cost of living is cheaper in Fredricksburg?

Constructively as possible... Though I don't know that market, that rate does seem low and might put RCPA on the wrong side of the "get what you pay for" truism. Maybe the OP can satisfy our curiosity and say whether they've had successful hires in this position at this rate before.

And what of rule #17 "no thread crapping"? Is that what we're doing here? All I know is that's what my cat does 24hrs after being left alone with a wool sweater.

I'm totally OK with crapping on a thread when it keeps the policy alive of expecting a person to work full time, expecting a degree, and paying them enough to afford dog food to eat.

Its a really hot job market out there people.

Hi Everyone, I understand this rate is on the lower side of what one may find in a larger city. Riverside's cost of living is far less than the surrounding larger cities. I myself have worked in both locations and have found that the cost of living and the lack of having to pay for parking and the significantly cheaper and easier commute is what I can personally say I prefer about working in Fredericksburg. Yes we have had young professionals working here in this position who have a degree in the field and it has been a great stepping stone for them to work on their skills and they are now on their way to grad school on full ride and all our department heads that staff work with have degrees in their fields.

This is a great company for someone to get their feet wet, earn enough to live in Stafford County, and still be driving distance from DC and Richmond which offer great companies to over-hire with. We have an 8 week turnaround from one opening to another and in recent shows have done very minimal overtime hours because we have a good understanding of our capabilities.
If anyone has any constructive and serious questions about the position, please feel free to ask.

What are you expectations of completing a build in the allotted time with little to no over time while encouraging your newly hired person that they should look at overhire positions atleast 2 hours round trip to compensate for lack of pay.

Further looking into cost of living in Stafford alone your county is 38% above the national average for CoL and at 14$ an hour with taxes taken out you are clearing enough to pay for a small studio with 75% of your monthly income leaving 25 for everything else. That’s thin.

What perks do you offer for such a low margin of saving and CoL?

Do you provide an in and connections to DC to make a real career out of your stepping stone?

My final question what is your turn over rate for this position?

Tldr: lower your expectations on everything or raise your salary to a working wage.
