Joined to expand my understanding of Technical Theater, where should I start?

I've been on my school's tech crew, and know how to operate equipment basically, but beyond general use my knowledge is limited. Using equipment skillfully or knowing the details of how it all works are a mystery to me. So I joined CB to try to educate myself properly. But where in the forums, or off-site, should I start to try to learn more?

It really depends on what you are interested in. There are lots of good books available if you like to learn that way. ETC, Soundcraft and others have online video tutorials. I would suggest starting with the equipment you have in your school, find out how it works inside and out. Spend time playing with it when you are not doing a show and see how far you can get with the manual. Go see shows, theater, concerts and anything else you are into. See how all of the parts are used to make a whole. Try and recreate an effect that you thought was cool in your own space. Hang out here and ask lots of questions.
