Lightronics FC-816

OK, this is all new to me but i'll give it a shot. My band has two Chauvet 4Bar fixtures. We don't like the footswitches. One band member bought a Lightronics FC-816 Footswitch on Ebay. Will it work with the 4Bars and if so what additional items will we need.

The FC816 will not work directly with the 4bar because the 4bar uses the DMX control protocol and the FC816 outputs only LMX/Microplex protocol, two entirely different control systems. The cheapest converter is probably the NSI IF-501 which is over $300. The 4bar apparently uses either 3 or 15 channels and the FC816 can control up to 16 channels, so from that aspect it would be adequate.
