Making a home theatre

I'm currently trying to turn a domestic room into a theatre. Note: NOT a Movie Theater, one for a live performance (though not a very big one!).
I need some way of erecting some curtains across a 250cm approx room with a carpeted floor. I'm not allowed to do anything to the walls or ceiling (even the lights are on T bars!). I also need to put up some scenery backing behind the curtains, which needs to be able to change to a different background, then back to the original. Any ideas on how this could be accomplished?

Some type of truss on stands, Or insert (depending on weight of what you're using) any other type of system with bases and a bar across your area. a piece of schedule 40 cheeseboroughed to the verticals. Etc... hang the curtain from that, you could also tie backdrops on and so forth, not exactly quick, but its an option.How tall are you talking?
