Mounting Pipe to Vertical Rod

Hi all,

In the attached photo is a regular 1.5" sch 40 pipe attached at 90º to a 3/4" vertical rod in the second cove of a theater. Its not a load bearing connection, its just there to keep the pipe rigid and in place.

In another cove in the same theater I'd like to attach some pipe in the same manner, but have it be a load bearing connection. Is there a piece of hardware I can buy to either temporarily or permanently make this connection? Basically a rigid cheeseborough with each side made for a different size pipe?

Structurally, the rods goes up through the ceiling and bolt directly into the huge structural timber of the roof.

I've looked around both the McMaster-Carr and Light Source websites, to no avail, although I may have missed something.

Thanks in advance!

Are you restricted to the 3/4" pipe or could your needs be met with any other size of pipe for the vertical piece?

Thanks for the responses!

Well the idea here is to attach pipe in situ to the building structure, so yeah, it has to be the 3/4" rod thats part of the building...

Do you know that there is load bearing capacity available on that 3/4" pipe?
