I am looking to use a scrim"i think" downstage and light upstage to make the kids shadows as they dance. Closer and farther they will change size. Am i correct or dreaming of this first of all? Second...our stage is limited. It's not a full fly stage. I have to get whatever front fabric in and out easily...and does the light go in the stage floor? Is it a floodlight? Thx

And to fly the scrim in and out, depending on the time you have, you can fly the batten in all the way, and clamp the bottom of the scrim to the batten or the top, effectively folding the scrim in half.

Scrim is definitely the wrong material. Add a rear projection screen to Derek's list of potential materials. Some schools have really low budget thin cycs that could potentially be used.

ive done a lot of this type of thing in the past. if you want to achieve shadows with very hard edges you are best using a flood with a photographic bulb. you can pick them up at any good camera shop.
