Anybody used the old Obsession/600? Any good?
I'm looking for a new lightboard for my church; right now we have an old Lep 500 manual board. We need something with memory, at least some of the time.
Options that have come to mind include:
- Express/2448
- Express/125
- Obsession/600
- Expression/3
- Strand Series/300
- Strand GSX
I'd like it to have some manner of manual control (a few subs are fine for that), and a proper theatre stack. It should speak either Expression or Light Palette syntax; I don't really care which one as long as it's a standard one. It needs a numeric keypad and a Go button.
It also needs to fit in 4 feet or less of desk space, because FOH is pretty cramped.
I'd also like that the keys are quiet; this I think eliminates the clicky buttons of Expression and the NASA Go button of the LP/90.
I'm following an Obsession/600 on the Bay at the moment, and it seems like it might be a decent fit, so I'm particularly interested in what you guys think about it. I'm aiming to spend under 3K, ideally less .. because, you know, churches are cheap.
