Protecting Color From the Sun

I'm working at a theme park where we keep our plot up for months in the sun, and we loose saturation from UV damage long before the lamps burn through the color.

Has anyone had success protecting color from the sun through any means?

I've thought about experimenting with Rosco #3114: UV Filter to protect it, and was wondering if anyone has already tried it. I have a feeling it probably wouldn't work well because it only blocks 90% of near ultraviolet below 390nm which leaves everything from 10nm to 300nm.

Barn doors on the fixtures to create shade?

Dichroic Filters if possible as there is no pigment to fade. If not; snoots, barn doors, anything that only allows an opening in the direction where the light is needed in the show.

If it's a long term plot, why not consider dichroic glass which doesn't have anything to burn out?

I think if you were to use the Rosco UV blocking gel, you would need a whole bubble around the gel frame to also stop sun from hitting the edge and fixture side of the gel when in the slot.

I'll seconds the dichrotics option, especially if it's the same plot hung year after year.

Barn doors on the fixtures to create shade?

probably cheaper to put top hats on them.
