Automated Fixtures Sharpy for Outside Event

Hello,

I'm doing a show in a few months and I'd like to use some Sharpys, the fun thing is it's outside. Does anyone know where I can find info about who I need to tell if I plan on using searchlight-like lights outside? Do I need to call the FAA? Is there a threshold for how bright a light can be before having to report it?

I've searched online for literature on this topic with no luck.

Is the venue near, or in the approach path to, an airport? Doubtful that a searchlight permit would be required, but it doesn't hurt to ask. http://ladot.lacity.org/intranet/pnp/pdfs/mpp164.pdf seems to deal more with parking than aerial safety.
