Shure ULXD Networking

Hey Guys

Ive just secured one of the Shure ULX D Quad's in a new space of ours.
Seeing as its only one unit I would rather not stick a network switch in the rack.
I have a mac i'm willing to dedicate to monitoring the system on Wireless Workbench.
If I manually set the IP of the ULX D unit and then set a static IP on the mac, Should I be able to run an ethernet straight out the back of the ULX D into a computer? Or do I really need a switch somewhere in the mix,

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but this should work if you use a crossover ethernet cable, rather than a standard one.

With virtually anything manufactured in the past 5 years, the crossover cable is unneeded, but would still work. Auto MDI/MDI-X has made that problem go away

The switch is not required, the Shure is expecting Ethernet, it doesn't know or care if the other end of the link is a switch or another device.
Your plan of static IPs will work, not setting anything and letting it pick up link local IPs will also normally work for this situation...
