Control/Dimming Strand SN100 vs N21 and grandma2 or ETC Eos

Is there a difference between the SN nodes and the N21 nodes in Strand's Shownet? We have an old flavor Strand Shownet with SN nodes. I have read some info online that says N21 nodes are able to work on all Shownet networks. At one point I thought it was said the N21 nodes were not compatible with older SN nodes?

The next question if they are indeed different, which flavor is capable of receiving the shownet outputted via grandma, grandma2, eos consoles?

The N21 nodes run Linux and are MUCH smaller than the older SN100 or SN104 Nodes which run DOS. I think you have it backwards though. The Older SN nodes will not be compatible with the newer N21 nodes. Programming them is different, The SN nodes you must download a file off of the node to program it, or have a keyboard and monitor hooked up to it.

An Eos/Ion/Element cannot output Shownet.

It is a proprietary Strand control protocol. That being said, the Nodes should work with MA Shownet. I have run SN100's and SN104's off of MA Shownet just fine.
