A type of threaded insert intended for use with wood and plastic products. Consists of a threaded barrel which may or may not be tapered with a usually circular flange, and barbs or prongs that sink into the material into which they are installed to prevent the Tee nut from turning or pulling out of the material. Useful when a bolt-together connection is required, but it is not possible or desirable to have a bolt head or nut protruding from one side and/or the material is too thin to accommodate a counterbore.

Often used on caster plates.
