using strips from floor for sunrise?

We're doing Once on this Island, style more stylized/abstract than realistic, and I want to create the look of sunrise/sunset and storm. I'm thinking about dropping 2 of our strips (they hang out into the wings, so this won't affect the amount of light from above) to the floor, putting them together centered and directed up at the drop, and bringing up the reds slowly as we add in blue and blue from above. Before I go through all of this - will it work? There will be platforms in front of the strips, so they aren't seen. I don't need a "sun", just the suggestion of sunrise/sunset. Thoughts, anyone?

Only caveat is you'll need to purchase or fabricate pairs of trunnions for the fixtures to be deck-mounted.

I have often done this by just propping up the front of the lights (if necessary) as they sit on the deck. Bill
