chauvet shadow 125 blowing fuses

Our theatre has two chauvet shadow 125 fixtures. The fixtures blow the fuse every time they are plugged in. Also the fuse holder says use 250v fuse but the fuses and spares in the unit are 125v. Can anyone help?

do you have the voltage switch in the correct position?
do not plug it into a dimmer.

Yes the switch is in the correct position. They are not plugged into a dimmer, we used a power strip. The building was recently rewired and I am wondering if there may be an issue elsewhere. We are not sure if these have been used on a dimmer previously. Would that cause any issue?

Something is wired wrong, the LED Shadow draws only 12 watts.

Something might of come loose inside. The manual really isn't very helping about what is inside but I would look to see if there is a fuse in there as well.

I think this is the older lamp based unit, not the newer led version.

Since there is a voltage switch on it, I am guessing it has a ballast/transformer inside which could have gone bad.

It is the older unit. Odd though that both the units are doing the same thing. If this had been hooked to a dimmer could it have fried the transformer?. Community theatre and the show opens Friday.

Have these fixtures ever worked correctly?
Any history of the units may be helpful.

No real history. They eere hanging on our downstage ekectric but no one here now has any idea where they came from.

Possibly, although usually it would do more havok on a more discreet component. Transformers are pretty robust -- but it can be done.
