Jands Vista Light Show

We are programming lights for a show that is dominated by click tracks using a Jands Vista T2. What is the best way to get the lights and music in sync? We are using Abelton live for tracks then Abelton in conjecture with Bomes Midi Translator to cue all lyrics and video, is there a way to get Midi cues into the Vista? Is there a better way to do this?

You have a couple options;

1. Timecode, which is probably your safest bet for getting everything sync'd.
File -> Timecode is where you set up your input/output

To assign timecode values to a specific track, all you have to do is change the end of step action to 'timecode' and enter a value

2. Midi triggers into Vista; File -> User Preferences -> Midi is where you set up your midi input information, be it MSC, Midi Timecode or Midi note triggers

to assign an individual midi note to a cue list for play/release (these are the only midi note triggers available at the current time, although using commands you can get around this a bit);
Cue list properties -> MIDI Notes

you can either learn the midi notes or select which note you want it to play with

As James mentioned, Timecode is the easiest way to do this.
In our setup, I have the audio track summed to mono on one channel and a timecode track on the other (timecode is just audio) and feed the audio to FOH and timecode into the console.
If you don't want to enter all of your timings manually, use the "learn timing" feature which will capture all of the times as you playback the show manually.

Vista makes timecoding easy.
