We are currently a municipally owned venue. We are a road house with acts that range from country, rock, comedians, dance, and more, with a community theatre partner that holds 5 musicals a year.

JOB SUMMARYThe position of Assistant Technical Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Technical Theatre Manager in all technical aspects of the Lerner Theatre. This includes working with shows using the stage, as well as providing support for technical requirements in the Crystal Ballroom and The Lerner Theatre facility.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the work of the technical department, under direction of Technical Theatre Manager, including the coordination, set-up and operation of technical support equipment for all stage presentations.
  • Maintain equipment and stage area in a ready and safe working and performing condition.
  • Maintenance and repair of technical equipment throughout the building.
  • Provide stage management and technical needs for local shows
  • Operate Audio system, stage lights, house curtains, and counterweight stage rigging system.
  • Perform minor repair and maintenance on electrical equipment and circuits. Coordinate any needed major repairs to such equipment.
  • Maintain storage areas
  • Keep running inventory of all onsite supplies needed in building
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years experience in the operation and maintenance of stage equipment, including sound systems, incident to a large stage or arena.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience using theatrical lighting
  • Experience working with professional audio for concerts and other events.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Ability to set objectives and meet goals.
  • Effective time management and organization.
  • Ability to work in timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to respond to high stress circumstances with courtesy and care.
  • Ability to accept director and constructive coaching.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful environments
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Work well in a team environment and team collaboration.
  • Visual ability to read stage and light plots and detect subtle shades of color.
  • Hearing ability to use intercom system and decipher audio inputs.
  • Ability to work using all types of lifts and equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on overhead scaffolding, “A” ladder, and cat walks of up to 70’ in height.
  • Skills in the use of hand tools essential to the work involved.
  • Ability to carry lighting instruments to tip of “A” ladder.
  • Ability to work extended hours
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions, such as loud noise, heat, cold, and outdoor weather as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work in the Lerner Theatre building, with the theater stage and the Crystal Ballroom.
  • Schedule will change from week to week, depending on events scheduled for the theater.
  • Work is full-time with varied hours including some overtime hours, including nights and weekends
  • Work is performed in a theater/stage environment with some work performed in other locations including outdoor venues.
POST OFFER TESTING REQUIREMENTS
  • The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
  • Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
