Kliegl Brothers Striplight

I have actually seen these. There is a school near me that has a few from around 1967. They eat through even lighter colors. We did a show with congo blue in them, and it lasted about 2 minutes before it was warped. That color had to get cut from the show. Even a light amber (R318 if I remember correctly) was getting changed nightly. Also, the gel got stuck to the mesh frame, and was a major PITA to clean.
 
We had Kliegl strips in college. they did not take gel, but had frames of thin colored glass strips 1" wide x the width of the frame. likely for heat expansion/contraction. that facility dated to the early 70's . My guess would be that the fixtures were designed for the glass filters that could take the heat. I would recommend passing on this deal.
