Control/Dimming options for setting scenes for a band.

Hello, I'm working a gig here in a couple days For a band and I would like to know peoples opinion on how I should do my lighting. For the most part I'm using standard conventional lights and a couple leds. I have works with light boards where I have specific banks of scenes presets. On a etc element I would normaly save submasters in my fader bank and bump them to tempo or move them around to create an effect. I don't know the band well enough to to long complicated sneaks. Is there a easer way to do something like this or just a alt way.
