suggestions for a low $$ multi-meter

About 2 x a year I need a multi-meter, mostly to confirm the voltage on a l6-20 or L14-30. Need a recommendation for a good one, preferably under $75.

If you're also looking for something that has a clamp meter in it, I've had this one for about a year and a half and never had any problems. Never had the problems that are mentioned in the reviews.

Check out this light reading. Go for true RMS and Cat 2 at least, Cat 3 would be my preference.

A low cost multimeter could lead to a high cost mistake. Inexpensive may be more than inaccurate, it also speaks to the reliability. I would not want to take a measurement and see no voltage present on a connector even though the connector is live. Cheap meters tend to fail.

Not true RMS, and not built like a Fluke, but it works fine for occasional use. Also great when you occasional need to test continuity or diodes.
