There are a whole lot, but the most complicated one might be this.
In one sound
effect, the script calls for "
Carillon and ships' whistles, Clock strikes 6, children playing, street organ." It seems like certain ambiance sounds being played over top of each other, I imagine. And that's just the first
cue.
Find all the sounds you like and use Garageband or Audacity to play them together.Continuing down the list:
Ships' Whistles
[google]ships whistle sound[/google] Sound Dog has some good ones.
Ships' whistles
Quarter hour chime
Find a friend in the band who can play the chimes. Record that. Almost anyone could play that.
Marching feet
Record yourself and a group of friends walking on the stage at the same time. We have good threads if you search for capturing feet noises.
Children playing and singing
I would expect the high school will have enough students to record that.
Carillon melody--then click striking 8 [
Same as the chime advice. Google is always an option.
Ships' Whistles (there probably is only a need for two different of these)
Street and canal sounds
You'd have to decide what you want this to sound like. You could try a nearby highway or after school while people are boarding busses.
Car coming to stop, pause, then starts away
I'm sure a friend has a truck that would make a good enough noise to record.
Bombers overhead
This probably needs to come from a website, or possibly a good movie that didn't have background music playing.
Streetcar
Probably hard to do. [google]streetcar noise.[/google]
Marching men
Same as other, find a few people to wear boots and wal across the stage.
Ships' whistles
Again?
Drunken Soldier singing "Lili Marlene," Girl's high giggle
Choir tenor, female actor.
Footsteps on cobblestone
Do you have tile floors anywhere in the school?
Sound of heavy boots
Size 14 boots make a very loud noise when dropped.
Planes high overhead
Probably a good place for a recording found online.
Ships's whistles
Streetcar passing
Dog barking
Record yours (or someone elses) dogs barking. Doorbells and nocking are almost guaranteed.
Dog barking
Feet running downstairs (this doesn't seem necessary)
I'm going to hazard a guess that your school has at least one staircase.
Ships' Whistles
Carillon chimes (hymn)
Possibly online
German band
Probably online, unless you are real good friends with the band teacher/director.
Children playing, whistles in distance
Same as above, but with a whistle added (possible in Garageband or Audacity.
Clock strikes 9 o'clock--melody first
Chimes from the band, or google. [google] Clock strikes 9 sound effect[/google]
Harbor whistles
Is this different from a regular whistle?
German band playing Viennese waltzes
Same with the German band above.
Car coming to a stop--then another
Friend with a big truck sound, just cut short.
Heavy
electric bell clanging

Electric bell--long peal
<- I don't know what you want these to sound like, so you should do what you think is best. Try a few things and if not, then move to online sources.
3rd clang from
electric bell

Door being battered down
Find a door to take off it's hinges (not one from the school, a spare you have for sets if available) and then push it over.
Boots run upstairs
Those stairs mentioned earlier?
Second door being battered through
find another different door, or adjust things like EQ on the first track for the second.
Boots clump upstairs
Blows from rifle
butt crashing into door, shouted commands in
German A german student, and a person to hold a piece of plywood and a person to hold the gun.
