products you would wish to see

as long as we are talking about road cases I would to see hover cases. That way when you need to get a trunk full of feeder past the motor distro center you dont have to left it over every cable.

Haha, yea right after posting I was like "y'know, wireless power would be nice too"

They have that. It's called "batteries".

The probable size of one of those, I'd take my chances with friendly cable.

Actually, I've had something I've been really wanting. I want heat gloves (for focusing) that extend all the way to the elbow (would have to be some sort of spandexy, underarmor-type material. Hence, I rig in an underarmor shirt).

Even better: Have the hands one piece, and have the ability to zip on/off the forearm guards (like zipoff pants, if you will) when needed. Gives a lot of versatility, protection, and allows you to wear the least amount needed in hot environments.

The thing you're wishing for already exists. They are nomex sleeves used by welders. You slide them up your arms, and they (typically) tie behind your neck, like a shop apron.

to quote just about every bad forumer on the planet: orly.

I had seen sleeve protectors earlier in my internet travels, but without any type of 'fastener' (like attatching to gloves, or tying behind the neck)

I want a "MAC 2000"-"Source4 Revolution" Hybrid made by Selador. An instrument designed for theater, not dance clubs. Quick and Quiet moving, Stationary and rotating Gobos, powerful light output, remote iris, zoom, focus, and shutter cuts. Let's make it LED so it uses very little electricity and has rich colors. But I want some serious Lumen output on this bad boy... so we better use a bunch of 10 Watt LEDS.

Oh yeah and let's price it under $2,000.

Anybody else want a few dozen?

gaff, if you find one, i think i'll take a few

did you want true lamp life left?? bc i know on our spots they have a number of hours used counter so you could just do some subtraction adn get pretty close....i think

Focus Dummy:
Radio Controlled, just like those toys I couldn't afford as a child with big monster wheels, a mannequin with remote-adjustable height (for short actors, tall actors), a wide base, and all with a radio range for focusing on those days where you just don't have enough crew - like meddlesome community theatre days!

Basically, my focus dummy could drive anywhere on the set, have strong enough brakes to handle a raked set, and a little propellor that can come out of the mannequin's back (yes, like Inspector Gadget) so it can fly to different levels of the scenery. This way you aren't just lighting the floor, and guessing its ok, or lighting the floor, standing in it later, and then going back for a refocus.

Before any clever answers arise, I know this is solved by meeting people, but just the same, if you can't afford to pay someone, then you probably can't afford my focus dummy. I just think gadgets operated from the catwalks would be cool, and it would drive and fly.....

Personally, I'd just like to see a small, inexpensive moving ellipsoidal that was dependable. No I don't need iris control, or any of that stuff, or an extra strong beam, I just want a very compact motorized mechanism to aid in focusing. Well, shutter control would be nice, but yea.'

edit: Turns out that exists, in the City Theatrical AutoYoke. I'll have to look into that.

How about wireless electricity. You know, without all that bummer "electrocution" everyone's so worried about nowadays.

Thanks! That's what I get for always jumping to the last page of a thread.

I forget who mentioned it, but as of right now, neither altman or ETC have been able to come up with a source 4/shaekespeare leko as it were....the optics involved are incredibly huge....the one prototype that was described to me was about 6 feet long....its a problem with heat sinks and making it a single point source (ie no pixelation near the lense)...however the altman led star par is an incredible fixture with about 80% the punch of a standard source full...check out the newer pulsar led par...they seem to be on the right track as well

I was working with a new board and I realized something I would like, a little box with a dmx in and out that would have 512 leds (or half or a quarter of that with a switch to go between) that would light up based on wheather or not that channel was getting signal.

Or a box with DMX in and out that has a number pad and a 3-digit LED display. Type the channel, hit enter, and see the value that is being sent, or "0-0" if no value is being sent.
