    Dress Code

I work at a number of venues, including a performing arts center. There, we have black polos with the center's logo on the back, and wear nice jeans or slacks. I also work at a church doing sound for different events, like funerals, and we wear a black, button up shirt with the church's logo on...

control dmx from a tablet without a pc?

I use an ArtNet system at the performing arts center at the university I work at, and it works great. We have a separate network for the iPad, and we use Luminair as a controller. Patching is easy, and the UI is very user friendly. The only problem I have ever had with it is some delay between...

    Control/Dimming Upgrading system to DMX

If you're looking for a cheap dimming solution, look into D4DMX dimmer packs by Leviton. I use them in the youth department at my church, and they're really simple to set up, and cost effective. I believe it is 4 edison sockets to each pack. Granted, you will need to daisy chain the packs...

Is DMX right for my application?

I use Luminair for iOS at the performing arts center I work at, and it's great. Simple UI, patching is a breeze, and customization is great. Highly recommend using an iPad or tablet for simple lighting jobs- makes things a lot simpler.

    Help lighting control

I would stick to ETC for something reliable and something that you can have some serious control on. ETC's Element or Smartfade consoles are both good. Are you looking for dimming systems as well, or just consoles?

What the hell is this truss?

I worked lighting for an Ernie Haase & Signature Sound Quartet concert (semi-famous gospel band) and the LD for them brought in some triangular truss. i was actually impressed with its load capacity and how quickly it all went together. We had around 100 ft of trussing set up within 20 minutes...

    Auditorium Lighting Upgrades. Your opinion(s)?

I actually just noticed your budget. My dept. got the smartfade because of budget problems. If you have the money, definitely upgrade to an Express or Element.

    Auditorium Lighting Upgrades. Your opinion(s)?

I would highly recommend going with ETC. Even if used, ETC is leagues beyond the competition. That being said, I have a ETC SmartFade, and I have been able to teach people the basics within a few hours. There are two sizes of SmartFades, so you have the option to pick which one suits your needs...

Design Help Designing A Portable Lighting Rig For Under $10,000

LED's are definitely worth it because of the power they save. As far as dimming is concerned, look into D4DMX dimmer packs, which can bet set in standalone mode or daisy chained via DMX to a console.

    Lighting Fixtures

I haven't had experience with anything except ETC- are Elations generally reliable? I've heard they're not good for long-term.I've thought about getting power from other places in the church, but it'd require a lot of cable, and to do that every Friday night would be a real hassle. I really...

    Lighting Fixtures

Yeah, this isn't going to happen immediately, but people in administration want an estimate of what I'll need. Our church has a full fledged video broadcast, with online streaming, archiving, 6 cameras, video switchers, ect. We produce our services for broadcast on television. We currently...

    Lighting Fixtures

No dimming, no console. I was thinking of getting a few D4DMX Dimmer Packs for control. We have a couple thousand to spend, I'd imagine. No definite number as of yet.

    Lighting Fixtures

These programs happen every friday. Basically song service, scripture, maybe a skit, and then sermon. We've been using the house lighting for the stage, but i'd like to get in some color in the audience or on the praise team during their set. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

They had special mounts made. Our church does television production of every sermon, so those are T.V. lights for the cameras.

    Lighting Fixtures

Hello everyone,I've got quite a predicament. I work for a christian university, and new to the university this year they have implemented a new university wide worship program. They want some kind of lighting done, however they don't really have too big of a budget to do this with. The other...
