    Stage Manager's Kit

Thanks for the input, I am thinking I am going to do two things with this. I will carry a bag with me to rehersal with contents separated into two categories. One category will be for first aid and general comfort of actors and technicians while the other will contain more technical related...

    Stage Manager's Kit

So, I have recently taken on Stage Management at my school. I have been reading up on stage management a bit to find out more about what I should be doing during rehearsals and plays. I have recently come across the subject of a stage manager's kit, something to keep with him during rehearsals...

    Backstage Bluelights

We tried using clip on lights and music stand lights gelled blue for a bit but it just want working. In addition to being too bright and taking away from the pit's stand light (during musical) too much white light escaped through the cracks and just polluted light on stage.

    Backstage Bluelights

Our setup does not require electric or dimmer space. Our wings both have second story lofts which have railings along the edge, we hang them there and attach an Edison converter at the end of an extension cord that is plugged in backstage by someone (usually me) before shows and unplugged...

    Backstage Bluelights

In our auditorium, we have two fresnels hung in both our SL and SR backstage wings that are set to illuminate the backstage area. What we use to gel them is Rosco 125 Blue Syc Silk which does a pretty good job of keeping backstage lit but in a darker way. We have had this stockpile of scrap...

    Talent Show

One big thing that we have found out the hard way, don't give anyone any microphone of any value. We have some really old, but still somewhat functional, mics that we let them use. We used to distribute our good mics and one year at the end of a rap act, the mics were thrown onto the stage...

    C-clamp direction

I always hang it towards me. That makes it constant, and easy to take up and down.

Adding DMX devices before distribution box

On our ION DMX universe 1 is used for the dimmers and DMX universe 2 goes backstage for distribution to the intels back there. The booth is well ventilated. Has climate control and maintains a constant temp of around 60 degrees. I set everything up today and daisy chained the two fixtures...

Adding DMX devices before distribution box

I would of course test the setup out. I was actually planning on doing it tomorrow. I put the fixtures up there today and shouldn't take more than five minutes to test out. We are using Elation powerspots and powerwashes. I wouldn't even dream of ending a line without terminating. Enough...

Adding DMX devices before distribution box

Just got a new Ion. One DMX port is for the dimmers and the other has a five pin to three pin transformer. I know, its horrible but I don't have that much purchase influence. I would love to either buy or rent more cables but we are several years over budget with the purchase of these...

Adding DMX devices before distribution box

For our upcoming musical we have decided to use position some intels up in the booth near the light board. No problem right? Wrong. Having the low budget we do, we can only afford to use intels that use 3 pin dmx. There is only one spot for us to plug a three pin dmx line into the board...

    Control/Dimming ETC Express RFU Issues

Yep, got that switch. Probably spent a minute or so with myself flipping the switch in frustration. I know that the 96/48 replaced a 24/48. I am not sure why they replaced it though, there could of been some problem with it or it could of been because the district was hemorrhaging money back...
