    Show Stop Stories

College, performing in an adaption of C.S. Lewis' Til We Have Faces. Lots of video work that the cast had to interact with. Opening night, we're all facing downstage. I can see out of my peripheral the video playing on the screen, but there's no audio. SM calls us to clear the stage, they...

    LED color channels

A local charitable organization asked me to help them with lighting for an event this week. They already had some LED pars which looked great....until i read the manual. So, these lights have RGBAW (seperate diodes for each) and UV. If I just use the panel on the back, I can use all the...

Hey, I thought we could share pictures of our shows...

Kind of mine, these are a few of my students' lighting projects this semester. This was their first attempt at lighting, so they only had 5 LED Par64s. In spring, they'll have access to around 30, including some moving heads. Program they are using is DasLight Virtual Controller, though our...

    Flying Peter Pan

Our central set piece was a 6' diameter toybox with some LED Par cans built into the top. When flying, the actors stood just behind and above the lights. Cue blackout, add a disco ball out in the house, make sure the actors can sell the flight with the music, worked great. Traveled the whole...

    Tech Theatre class.....with no tech

Thanks everybody. I've taught the class before, mostly the design portion and even then on a very rudimentary level. It was interspersed with lots of theatre history and literature. This year I was told I could make it a true technical theatre course. So we'll be hanging lights and...

    Tech Theatre class.....with no tech

So this year, I have been tasked with teaching Theatre production. A little background: -Our system's auditorium is across town. -Subsequently so are the majority of our scenic materials (tools, lumber...) and lighting. -I will have anywhere from 25 to 35 students -Who CANNOT be required to...

    Basic dmx control

Daslight Virtual Controller runs anywhere from 75 to 600 dollars, depending on how many addresses you need. I bought the $150 package and have one full universe, which is more than what i need. though price has probably gone up.

    My Last HooRah

saw a great dance effect where they projected classic dance clips from classic movies (gene kelly, fred astaire, etc...) where the projected image "danced" with the live performer, then seamlessly transformed into a live performer as well. then "danced" back onto the screen.

    Common Core Curriculum, Theatre Standards

this is short compared to GA's 80 pages of standards for theatre. most of which are absurd. https://www.georgiastandards.org/standards/gps%20support%20docs/fine_arts_theatre_gps_final_2-11-2010.pdf
