    The point is to record (more or less) what the audience hears... so if the audience only hears a really loud HVAC and PA only... either that's how you want the recording to sound, or you shouldn't even bother mixing for audience and just straight mix for recording.

    Well, there are many ways of "connecting" boards together, it all depends on what you want to do...For example, you could route the main outs from board 'A' into a stereo pair on "B" to expand channel count.. You could split the inputs at the stage and send independent signal to each board...
