Automated Fixtures Club Lighting a Mystery

Greetings. I've searched the forums and the web-er-nets for information on the following product... can't seem to come up with anything. Or I haven't looked hard enough. I figure this knowledge pool might lend to some elucidation. But I digress. I received a phone call this afternoon in...

    Placing Gel in lights

I just remove the lens train and shove the gels (heat shield first, of course! ;)) into the reflector housing. The "gel frame holders" on the front are for looks only and are not meant to be used practically. The only way to ensure the gel stay in the light is to... put it IN the light. Of...

Control/Dimming 3-circuit "Clip Light (aka, Belt Light) chasing with transformers

Yea. That's not right. Only the 3 hot legs are separated into phases. The neutral is common... in all circuits. Whether they branch off to the separate racks post-main service disconnect wouldn't matter.

    Automated Fixtures Broken SeaChanger

Hey all. Issue: A few days ago, I noticed a SeaChanger Tungsten Profile unit not responding to DMX commands. We tested the DMX line and it came back fine with clean data. We also tested the power supplying the SeaChanger. It also was at proper voltage. Upon opening the outer motor...

Control/Dimming 3-circuit "Clip Light (aka, Belt Light) chasing with transformers

Hey all. Using: American Lighting Products 4-wire (3 Hot, 1 Common) 24V, .96W (per lamp) "Clip Light" for a chase effect around an archway. In-House System: ETC Sensor+ Dimmer Racks (2.4kW). Neutral is shared throughout. Chase would be controlled via dimming system (not remote...

    Electro Controls

wow. nostalgia. I had an Electro Controls "Celebrity Edition" console. No monitor. I think because we didn't know you could do that (have a monitor). Just those pretty red lights. I would mod my Expression 3 to use those keys if I could. *KACHUNK, KACHUNK* "Did record?" "Uh... sure."

QFX 150 -- always slow dimmer wheel?

Greetings all, [Setting] I am using (6) Martin QFX 150's to light a LightScape fiber drop and a custom fiber install. I know the QFX uses a dimming wheel (because it's an arc source). [Issue] Bumping up from "00" to "FL" very slow (at least 2 count). [Question] Is this...

Automated Fixtures Meteor ElipScans hate ETCnet...

PROBLEM SOLVED! After poking around the NCE for the network, I found the "DMX Outputs" option for the Nodes. I slowed the Port Speed. They were set to "Maximum" = 42Hz refresh rate.. I changed them to "Fast" = 39Hz refresh rate. Thanks for all your input!

Automated Fixtures Meteor ElipScans hate ETCnet...

Well, we had never had any problem with any other DMX based fixtures, SeaChangers, Scrollers, etc. The problem was solved when we bypassed the ETCnet. Apologies for the "voltage" confusion. I only meant "signal." Oops. I have tested all the turn-arounds (3 to 5 pin). They are fine. My...

Automated Fixtures Meteor ElipScans hate ETCnet...

Hello all! Hooray for my first post! Background: So I wanted to share a recent issue I found while trying to integrate Meteor ElipScan Mirrors into the ETCnet at my theatre. We use ETCnet2 and Emphasis as a control server, though not as the board's brain. We use Emphasis to program cue...

    Using Sperry DM-210A Tester

Hey all, I just updated my electrics toolbag with some new toys. One of which is the Sperry DM-210A Digital Multimeter: I have used multi-meters before, but maybe I need more coffee. I am trying to test resistence through... anything. I have read over the manual (in english and french)...

Rigging Question (Tieing off a line set)

I find that Bazooka Gum and Elmer's Wood Glue works to secure a lineset while loading weight. 2:1 ratio (gum to glue) . Actually, at FSU, we use Uncle Buddies, and axe handles to break-off handlines. I always get confused at how to use the Uncle Buddy. So I usually just stab it...
