unprinted OSB

I can't say specifically that I've bought much with anything printed on it? Maybe a sheet or 2 in a batch if I buy a lot and manage to get the start of a bundle? Are you getting it from a big box store, or a local vendor? Maybe someone is printing on it post milling?

I know you CAN buy unprinted OSB. I've used it. I've sets with it before. I just can't remember what it's used for. "Plain OSB" is what we called it, but I don't know if that's it's actual name or not. May be hard to find if it's a "special" order.

Found this, seems like going to a lumber supplier and asking them to call the manufacturer is abut the only way.

Bidding a set that uses OSB as a visual element. Has anyone ever found OSB without printing on the face? Or some solvent that would get it off?
I've never found OSB that has printing on both sides, so get the really thin stuff (1/4"?) and sandwich it with the printing face to face on the inside.

-our local chain is Menards and they have it in stock so not a special-order

I'd be very careful abut using OSB that has not be treated with fire retardant, be it in the shop or on-stage. If yo have to paint it to cover the printing, just add the appropriate type and percentage of fire retardant to the paint and kill two birds with one stone.

Reminder: Per NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, Chapter 13 -- Scenery, props, drapes, and costumes must be constructed with incombustible materials or materials that have been treated with fire retardant. This isnot a new rule. It's been on the books for over 100 years. Preparing materials for the stage should include a budget for time and materials associated with treating them with fire retardant. It should not be looked at a 'extra' or 'only if we have time / money'.
