Applying make-up

Can you apply make-up to medical tape for when an actor is mic with a lavalier mic which is taped near their face?

Do you apply make-up over the mic?

Some tapes will take makeup, some won't - we usually use Leukoplast which is flesh-toned anyway and you can put makeup over it. Micropore tape (useful for people who have bad reactions to the adhesive in the Leuko) will also take makeup. Transpore, which we also use from time to time, doesn't take makeup but it's pretty much transparent anyway. As for putting makeup over the mic itself, no, don't do it!

I make a halo out of thin elastic and attach the mic to it. Then the halo slides on the actors head and I cover the elastic with the actors hair, it disappears completely. I place the mic head over the ear, and it is safe and sound. I have added a few bobby pins to help it not slide.
