Audiocom Cable

I'm trying to figure out / make sense of the diagram for the AudioCom 2 Channel audio systems. For example from the MS-2002 manual.

For example it says to use 3 or 6 pin Neutriks XLR connectors. Then it says use either 3 pair or 2 pair depending on single channel or two channel.

The diagram says:

Pin 1 - Channel 1&2 Common
Pin 2 - No Connection
Pin 3 - Channel 1 Audio / Power
Pin 4 - Channel 1 Audio / Power
Pin 5 - Channel 2 Audio / Power
Pin 6 - Channel 2 Audio / Power
Shield - Earth Ground

I'm a bit confused as to where you're attaching the Shield then if Pins 1-6 are used for the wiring pairs.

I've never realized if there's a shell connection on them hmm

All XLRs have a shell/chassis connection:

It's seldom wired in PA applications.
