Just wondering what everyone is paying for their 300 watt R40 lamps, and where they are getting them from. As much as I want to buy local from my in town suppliers, the internet has MUCH better pricing.

Mostly, those lamps are better replaced by other halogen PAR lamps at this point. This if not replaced in general with other lighting in general making up for that strip of wash. Could do a halogen Q250w PAR 38 to replace, but would want to check the lamp sockets and wiring on anything using that wattage before installing such a now halogen lamp into older gear.

Sorry but the 300w R-40 is long gone in tech without replacement.

300R40/SP? GE 300R40/SP 120V $10.67 300W R40 SPOT MEDIUM BASE 21197 VALUE BRAND 120-130V RATED LAMP GE $10.67
OR
300R40/FL? 300R40/FL 120V $10.78 300W R40 FLOOD MEDIUM BASE 5721 104035 PRISM BR40FL300 R40 E26-MEDIUM BASE Halco $10.78 or BulbConnection.com - $6.30 Halco 104035 300R40/FL Replacement Lamp Halco $6.49

BulbAmerica, Bulbtronics, Bulbman, et al always seem to have low, low Internet prices. I doubt a small local vendor could meet or beat their prices, but it's a nice gesture to offer them the chance to bid.

First hit on teh Google was Atlanta Light Bulbs--they're local to you, right? I'm surprised anyone still makes the 300W R40. I would have thought it would have changed to a 276W BR37 "Watt-Mizer" "Econo-Watt" or some such. If the tree huggers get their way, soon you'll have to buy a special "stage/studio" version and it will be $25.00!

My idea of this thread was just to put some feelers out into the world to find out what my colleagues are paying. I too am surprised that the incandescent 300 watt R40 is still manufactured and not replaced by a version with a Halogen capsule or BR version.

Also, $25 bucks would still be less than what one vendor quoted us. Hate to see what their price would become if the common price was $25. Just another good reason to find money for LED!

I'll second Bulbamerica. I have been buying from them for several years. I ordered some EHD's over the weekend and they called monday morning to authorize substituting another brand and sent the order then. I received it the next day with free standard shipping. They are very competitive pricewise on all items and a pleasure to work with.
