Bus Bar Bolts material

I have a company switch (circa 1960s) that has bus bars with holes for the lugs to bolt to. There are several lugs missing and the lugs I have are thicker than the current bolts in the bus bars. My question is, do the bolts to attach the lugs to the bus bar have to be a specific material? The current ones appear to be brass, but I didn't know if that was a requirement. Thanks in advance!

Yes. Don't go just throwing any old bolt in there.
