A type of leg or support for wood framed platforms. Compression legs differ from other styles of legs as they actually support the rail of the framing via direct compression rather than relying solely on the mechanical action of a bolt or screw through the rail. A compression leg is usually made by combining two pieces of lumber, which are of the same thickness as the framing member of the platform, face to face. One of the pieces extends past the other the length of the width of the framing rail e.g.. If you have a 1x4 framed platform with a 3/4" plywood cover and you want to leg it to 12" tall you would combine a piece of 1 x 4 x 11 1/4" with a piece of of 1 x 4 x 7 3/4". Gluing and stapling or screwing them face to face.
