Console self training technique from home

Hi There,

I have learned performing arts lighting mostly in the 1990's and now back to it. I'm new to the computerized desk thing and trying to catch up as fast as I can. So basically I work for 2 different venues where they have an ETC Element and an Ion.

I have downloaded the ETC Nomad for PC and playing around with it along with the video tuts from ETC.

Now I'm at this point where it would be handy to get the software to control something. So I have found these programs that are Capture and Wysiwyg. However they seem not to be designed to be running on the same PC along with the control software (Nomad in my case) as it says on the information page from ETC that these programs respond to DMX feed coming in via Ethernet port.

When I was making computer music there was a driver called Virtual Midi Cable that would help with a software sequencer to control a software synth for example. Is there such thing for DMX protocol?

...am I doing this the right way?

Thanks in advance.

Renz.

Loopback adapter hah. Are you sure there is no software that does the job?
How do you manage yourself?
