cubase usb connection

hi guys i have a few questions about cubase 6

will the program respond to a usb connection out of a board or do i need a firewire card for my pc?
and when i connect will cubase allow me to control each channel individually and record them on separate tracks while still being able to be played live?
for example
4 separate channels of mics each on a track in cubase that can be manipulated.

i realize these are very amateur questions, thanks for your patience.

Yes, Cubase should work fine with a USB audio interface. How many channels can be recorded from USB is determined by the design of the console. The consoles with USB that I've encountered just send the stereo mix buss to the USB port. Check out the user manual for the console and all will be answered.
