DIY GAM Chek

I was curious as to if anyone has built a GamChek for the cable tester part? I saw a thread from awhile back where someone described how to build the Lamp Tester portion of a GamChek but no mention of the cable tester.
I'm in college so not a lot of money currently to purchase a gam chek, however, have a lot of spare wire, resistors and stage pins around.

I just googled this https://www.google.com/search?q=DIY+cable+tester&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8. I've seen homemade ones before, so certainly possible.
