Is there a method of flame retarding existing wooden scenery that is already painted on all surfaces?

Since your scenery is already painted you will need to buy FR-1 paint additive or Rosco Flamex PA to a water base sealant and seal what you wish to be flame retardant.

Basically what Chris Whittle said or completely repaint, front and back with paint mixed with an appropriate retardant, Rosco or other.
