Indeed - what the heck are those fixtures? And how long did that take to program? Would like some more intel on that. Thanks for sharing this.

I seem to remember seeing an article in one of the trade magazines, but can't find it now.

This was discussed over at lightnetwork.com in the general thread "This is nice programming" (sorry, can't link to the thread).
Informed source Anthony Headley had this to say:

"Hey all, just wanted to drop in and answer a few questions:

The Imagine Dragons Gold video was produced in part using 210 Magic Panels controlled by a GMA2 and PRG Mbox Extreme Media Server running Designer 3.9. Data from both controllers was merged using the PRG Series 400 Power & Distribution system running the new version 5 software.

The whole project was drawn, programmed and, shot in three days with Guy Pavelo Designing / Programming and Moment Factory doing the creative.

The imaging on the Magic Panels was a combination of Mbox content, the GMA2 FX engine and simple but effective movements to crate some stunning beam effects.

The newly updated Pixel Mapping UI in Mbox 3.9 allowed quick and easy manipulation of the 7560 pixel map, and the updated Series 400 v5 software allowed a seamless two way Art-Net merge of the 78 universes from the GMA and Mbox.

Regarding the Magic Panels on camera left with the funny colored pixels; this issue was actually caused by a non field repairable software issue in the Magic Panels and with no replacements available in short order on the west cost the crew did their best to overcome the issue.

I think Guy and crew did an amazing job in such a short time.
