Littlite dimmer knob glue

I am going through a stock of old Littlites and have several whose dimmer has come unglued from the upper assembly. In the past I have used silicon caulk, hot glue, and VHB to attempt to hold the dimmer in place. All of these have eventually failed. I have no idea what the original adhesive from the factory is but none of the replacements comes close. I have considered epoxy but if the dimmer fails I’d like to be able to replace it.
What do you all use to reglue the dimmer into the housing?

It's been a while since I've played with Littlites but I don't recall ever having to replace a dimmer in one. If the factory glues a part in then I would expect it to last for the life of the product. So I wouldn't be too afraid of the epoxy and would consider tossing the light if the dimmer fails.
