Automated Fixtures martin mac 250+ help

i just got a new etc element console(amazing console btw) and i need to program it to the automatic light. i know the light is a martin mac 250+. but it gives me "mac 250+ m2" and "mac 250+ m4". how can i tell if its a m2 or m4. (we have no lowering gear so dont say "look on the side") can i tell without going up there and reading it?

"m2" and "m4" refer to different DMX modes the fixture can be set for, and each takes a different number of channels. If you cannot access the fixture's menu, do you know the DMX address of each fixture?, as subtraction may offer a clue.
MAC 250+ in m2 mode uses 11 channels, in m4 mode 13 channels. User Manual attached for your convenience.

Try them both and it will be obvious as you attempt to control the fixture. You can even patch it as a series of dimmers to see exactly what channels do what. That's how I found out my MAC250's are mode 2.
