I didn’t listen to the recording, I just read the headline. The answer, they will function more and more like roadhouses. A friend of mine who is full time at a major regional theatre is experiencing this. They have the same season but instead of three shows a year that come in as tours they now have fifteen. All of that with the same expectation for their own season. It makes sense, a show in a box gives them more opportunity to make money, compared to them mounting a production.
